Apart from writing novellas ( they say that a lot on Twitter) I have begun to write short stories too.
Why? I hear you ask (I have good hearing) Well, when you enjoy writing and you want to show off your work in public, many join groups. As I did, Walsall Writers' Circle. I enjoy going, mixing with people who are like myself. An age group from early twenties up to a hundred (some look it) and each bringing with them their own genre of writing, something that many would not wish to write about, but to listen to by a man or woman who is pleased with what they have written gives you an idea that we are all different in the way we write a story.
My problem when I joined this group was the fact that I could not write a few words and impress the group. And when outsiders came to do talks, then they would insist you wrote half page stories.
When I got the beginning of my flash story on paper i thought al would be easy, however, it was when I was nearing the end that was when felt as though I was doing my GCSE exams all over again. You got it - staring in to space and wishing I was elsewhere. I always hoped they would not choose me to read my story out, but like a stripper after his victim, muggings here was asked to the front of the room to read out.
That was when I had to do something, get my head into this new type of writing. And after a few goes during my morning tea breaks, I began.
I would use my life, to be honest, I mean, I don't have much to tell, I have no diary crammed full of dinner dates and parties to attend., However, having a hubby, kids and animals around me, and past memories of my child-hood, then it began to work.
1500 words came at ease, and soon flash stories too. Easy peasy? Nahh! But only you guys know.
So below here are a few stories which I have on line. Now I must admit, editing was not done on some of them, eager to see how Scribed worked for one, and to be truthful, I did not think anyone would bother taking a look at them, but as usual, I was wrong.
So at your peril take a peek.
